I know something about stealing… when I was in first grade, I stole a candy from a grocery store. I don’t know why but I had to tell my mom about it. My mom was upset and she sent my dad and I to return the item to the store and apologize.
Personally, I’ve learned in my early years that not only stealing is bad but it also left me with a nagging guilty feeling that I just can’t seem to shake off, until I set things straight. I couldn’t bear the guilty feeling.
If you own a small business you know how difficult it is to try and do it all by yourself. From designing to selling and marketing to customer service – countless hours, energy and attentions go into WORK. Not only I have to make a living and pay bills for the family, I have to pay my overhead and expensive materials constantly. I don’t think people realize how expensive it is to try and produce something in small scale and make products in the United States. Yes we can always make mass produced items in China, made and sold at less than half the price. Even then, the final price of the product get so inflated so the companies and retail shops can make profit, not the people who work in Chinese factory, people who make the products. I don’t call that special.
So whoever stole my designs please come up with your own. Nowadays anyone can have access to laser cutter. They can certainly start their own businesses in their home. What I do is not that ‘special’. Anyone can do it! But my designs are my designs – because I don’t want anyone else to think that I have my products mass produced. It goes against my intention. And you are not just stealing my designs, you are stealing my business. You are pooping on the solid hours and energies I put into what I do.
I can go on and on about this but I am going to stop here because I actually came in to my studio to get some work done. I don’t want this to ruin my Sunday plan.
**UPDATE**
I feel VERY VERY lucky that this issue actually got resolved, and in such a short period of time!
Thanks one98one for making apologies and quickly responding to the issue. I’m glad that you’ve taken down my designs but I still wonder where the designs came from.
SUPER BIG THANK YOUs go to the person who let me know (whose name I won’t mention here) about the stolen designs and very lovely Beth Barden for taking the matter into her own hands and got this resolved.
Rereading my blog post, I don’t even know if I made any sense! I started to make a point but dropped the whole thoughts in the middle of the post because I realized it was taking so long for me to gather my thoughts and I REALLY had to get my work done! But I thank you all for reading my ranting and left well wishes on this site and my Facebook page. I appreciate it!!
