Giveaway No.18 Winner

Fist of February — I didn’t even realize until few minutes ago. I knew it was Wednesday and I only have couple of hours left to get my work done so let’s get right to the winner!

The winner of Giveaway No. 18th is… Amanda M who wrote on January 16th! Congratulations! I will email you to get your shipping info.

Well folks, what should I do for this month’s giveaway? any ideas??

New Clocks

Introducing 3 new clocks: a giraffe, train and whale! I have several request for whale and giraffe clocks for some time now and I’m glad to have finally made them.
They are currently available in my etsy shop.

Duh, i just realized that today is Feb 1st! I guess I have to announce the winner of the giveaway. Will be right back!

Candle labels

Last year, I worked on some candle labels for Simone & society for rational dress. Now they are available to purchase here.

Giveaway 18

Welcome to the first Giveaway of 2012! It’s only appropriate to start the first giveaway off with this Goal/Wish list, don’t you think?

Oh boy, this year may turn out to be the busiest year for Decoylab! I won’t go into specifics as you will find out in a couple of months, but let’s just say that the market is getting bigger. Since I have no way of knowing what to expect, all I can say is “Bring it!”

So – let’s start this giveaway… This is how it works — To enter this month’s giveaway, please answer the question:
If you win the GOAL/WISH clipboard, what would be the first thing you would write?
And leave your answer in the comment section below. One winner will be chosen randomly at the end of this month.
As always your email will not be public and will only be used to contact if you are the winner.

I will have a GOAL board and first thing I’ll write is “schedule time for creative play.” I would love to make my creative play time a routine rather than something I do when I have time. There’s been too much managerial work I’ve been doing.

There will be more giveaways to come through out this year and the first one will begin next week. Also stay tuned for new designs! (Yay! Fun work!!)

Happy Holidays!!

Holiday rush for me has officially ended as of yesterday (Yay! I survived!!) — so I wanted to take time today to say “THANK YOU!” to all my customers and extend my warm wishes to everyone for this holiday seasons.

Stolen Designs!

I know something about stealing… when I was in first grade, I stole a candy from a grocery store. I don’t know why but I had to tell my mom about it. My mom was upset and she sent my dad and I to return the item to the store and apologize.
Personally, I’ve learned in my early years that not only stealing is bad but it also left me with a nagging guilty feeling that I just can’t seem to shake off, until I set things straight. I couldn’t bear the guilty feeling.

If you own a small business you know how difficult it is to try and do it all by yourself. From designing to selling and marketing to customer service – countless hours, energy and attentions go into WORK. Not only I have to make a living and pay bills for the family, I have to pay my overhead and expensive materials constantly. I don’t think people realize how expensive it is to try and produce something in small scale and make products in the United States. Yes we can always make mass produced items in China, made and sold at less than half the price. Even then, the final price of the product get so inflated so the companies and retail shops can make profit, not the people who work in Chinese factory, people who make the products. I don’t call that special.

So whoever stole my designs please come up with your own. Nowadays anyone can have access to laser cutter. They can certainly start their own businesses in their home. What I do is not that ‘special’. Anyone can do it! But my designs are my designs – because I don’t want anyone else to think that I have my products mass produced. It goes against my intention. And you are not just stealing my designs, you are stealing my business. You are pooping on the solid hours and energies I put into what I do.

I can go on and on about this but I am going to stop here because I actually came in to my studio to get some work done. I don’t want this to ruin my Sunday plan.

**UPDATE**
I feel VERY VERY lucky that this issue actually got resolved, and in such a short period of time!

Thanks one98one for making apologies and quickly responding to the issue. I’m glad that you’ve taken down my designs but I still wonder where the designs came from.

SUPER BIG THANK YOUs go to the person who let me know (whose name I won’t mention here) about the stolen designs and very lovely Beth Barden for taking the matter into her own hands and got this resolved.

Rereading my blog post, I don’t even know if I made any sense! I started to make a point but dropped the whole thoughts in the middle of the post because I realized it was taking so long for me to gather my thoughts and I REALLY had to get my work done! But I thank you all for reading my ranting and left well wishes on this site and my Facebook page. I appreciate it!!

Giveaway No. 17!

This would be the last giveaway of 2011. Can you believe that the year is almost over? I certainly can’t. It’s like when you stare at your feet and focus on each step as you move forward, you don’t notice how far you’ve moved forward. I’ve been focusing on orders and projects, one after next and it’s not over yet! I have a good 15 days left of holiday rush, then I have more wholesale orders to work on for the rest of the month and into 2012. I hope to sneak in time for relaxation AND time to make new things. Ahhh… wouldn’t that be nice!!

Today is such a beautiful day by the way, as I look up and out at the window. I see wispy white clouds slowly slowly moving by in bright blue sky. I can stare at this for a long time and forget about time! It’s sunny but brisk. I have a space heater blasting hot air on my legs and feet as I am typing this. I’m not in the mood to work today… I have to confess. But as I type this I am getting several emails that I need to attend. So I suppose i should get going.

OK so this month’s giveaway is this red mushroom clock. Just remembered that the other day someone on Etsy asked me “what’s modern mushroom wall clock?” Um… I don’t know? Why can’t mushroom be modern? I’m kidding. Since Etsy has changed their search results to relevancy, product naming became more of an importance, but not necessarily how nice the name sounds. I still don’t understand it entirely, but I could have mixed up any of those 4 words in no particular order. Just as long as people who type in any of those words will find my clock.

Back to the giveaway. To win this clock you must share with me your best moments, memories, experiences of 2011! Something funny? something touching and heart warming? I know, it’s hard to pick “Best”.. so it could just be something that comes to your mind and sticks out. And as usual, leave your answer in the comment section below. Be sure to include your email address which will not be public. It will only be used in case you are a winner. One winner will be chosen randomly at the end of this month and will be announced.

That’s it! Looking forward to hear your stories!

Giveaway No.16 Winner

The road is white this morning… My husband Jason told me “it snowed” this morning, but I didn’t believe him. He fooled me a couple times before, I won’t fall for that! I thought. Then he was right. You know what this means? I have to go out and heat up my car before I take Leela to daycare and start my day. Must announce the winner and get started on the new giveaway!

Thanks for sharing your Xmas wish list and fantasies. The winner of the Giveaway No. 16 Hippo clock is: Lorraine who wrote on Nov 22. Congratulations! I will get your mailing address.

Time to go warm up the car.. new Giveaway will follow soon!
