Decoylab is 10 years old!!

This hand crafted clock making business has turned 10 year old! I can't believe it! And that's how it goes sometimes in life. I have lived one day, one week, one month at a time... I look back and 10 years has passed.

10 years... !!

To say, "It has been one heck of a ride!" is an understatement. A lot of sweat, tears, blood, snot, time and energy went into this so called "business." Loads of freak outs, sleepless nights (not really.. I passed out every night) and headaches and heart breaks. Not to mention there were happy moments and excitements along the way.

I would like to take a moment to thank each and every one of my customer who has purchased my products. You are the ones truly allowed me and supported me to do this thing that I knew nothing about. Your feedbacks were heard and they helped me improve my products. I've learned to listen and provide better customer service overall because I know that this is not possible at all without YOU.

As a big THANK YOU and to celebrate this 10 year birthday, I've set up a promo code HAPPY10TH for 10% OFF on any purchase here in my shop. The promo code is good until the end of this year. (Promo code does not work on Etsy)

Since Thanksgiving is near.. I also personally want to thank Matt, Stuart, Mary, Minh, Rachel for helping me make the clocks and baby mobiles over different times of the last 10 years. I also want to thank Derek and the crew at Ponoko, Pat and Craig at Hammerspace for the laser cutting services. I'm also thankful of Jason and Leela, my tribe, my heart.. for putting up with this one "crazy mommy." As I always say to Leela, "Crazy is how we roll!!"

I also want to thank this particular customer who will remain nameless, insisted that I need to know that my products make difference in people's lives in a positive way. She was looking for a unique clock and had spent days, months searching for a perfect clock for her and came upon my Forest Animal Clock and she knew that's what she was looking for. This took place at a critical time when I was feeling the weakest and her words of encouragement was deeply felt.

Customers like her and many others have given me words of appreciation, gratitude and encouragement for me doing "my thing" and I'm beyond humbled and ever more grateful for their graciousness. I have indeed set out to create every day functional objects that can possible make people smile. I still believe that small "ordinary" things are what matters. There's place for trend. But I truly want to make something that last in this throw away society.

I am not sure what future holds for Decoylab - just like it has always been in the past 10 years! Decoylab and I have never been separate. The name I have used since 2000 to do "my own thing." I definitely do not do things the same way other people do. Whether that's good or bad is really not my concern. I guess. I just know that I do what I feel is the right thing to do and I hope to stay creative for many years to come.

Thank you again for allowing me to be a mom and do this thing!! It's been a blast!!!!
